19-Jan-08 Because of a major injury, Idora has been out of training since November, when doctors diagnosed her with a dorsomedial disc herniation. The diagnose came during the Golden Spin in Zagreb, Croatia's biggest competition. Because of the severity of the injury, she'll need to rest and rehabilitate for the next four months.
"Everything I dreamed about for the last two years will stay just a dream. My biggest desire in life will not be realized."
Doctors have strictly forbidden Idora to compete in the long awaited European championship in Zagreb, because otherwise it could lead to additional complications and maybe even a spine surgery.
"I'm on therapy until further notice, and I hope to recover soon. But one thing is for sure - this season is over for me. Not only that, by doctors evaluations my whole skating career could be in question."
Idora's current condition has been much debated in the media lately, so here are her words about what's really going on:
"After three weeks of resting, by doctor's orders, the injury didn't get better so rehabilitation was necessary. All this was know during December and all medical documentation was delivered to the skating union...
...I'm missing out on a competition which I thought of every day. Everything was going wrong, my dreams, desires, goals...
Unfortunately, it seems that not many people have understanding for what I'm going through. It's disgraceful that someone can state that I didn't want to train, and my injury isn't even mentioned."
05-Nov-07 First competition this season was an invite-only Grand Prix in Quebec, Canada. Idora came back to Zagreb to prepare for Golden Spin, where not everything went as planned. Her complete right leg went numb during the performance, but she skated on in spite of the pain.
"As every sportsman endures common injuries and pains, I though it will go away if i take it ease for a few days, and that I'll be able to go to Russia and start my preparations."
Five more medical experts come to the same conclusion: Idora must stop training or else her whole career could come to a stop.
"I went to therapy hoping that in two, three weeks everything will settle down and that maybe the doctors were wrong. But I wasn't able to admit to myself what's really going on. After the weeks of rehabilitation, nothing improved and all my hopes slowly disappeared."
15-Jul-07 In the city of Flims in the Swiss alps, Idora began the skating season. Her main coach is Viktor Kudriavchev from Russia, who was Aleksandar Rožin's best friend.
"We collaborated with Victor for a few years, and he knows my from my very beginnings on european and world championships. It was indescribably difficult to skate in the "Ice Arena" where every situtation and move reminds me of my Saša..."
